Beowulf: Skirmish at Heorot

Beowulf: Skirmish at Heorot

  • Description

This is a skirmish game set in the Dark Ages and based on the Beowulf poems.

One player controls the monster Grendel, the other player takes control of Beowulf and his 14 geats (=his warriors).

The setting is Heorot - the hall of the Danish king Hrothgar.

Success of the actions is determined by 6-sided dice. There are different victory conditions for both sides, you can score major or minor victories.

The game appeared in Battlegames #4 as a free insert.

    Designer's comment of BGG:

Short game published with a board in Battlegames Magazine; I was pleased with the map the magazine put together (better than my original hand drawn board!). The rules are basic but I didn't want to overload the magazine article, knowing that a lot of players would want to use their own choice of skirmish rules.
