The game is played on a 7 by 7 grid with 21 pieces, 1 king with 8 defenders on one side and 12 attackers on the other side. The goal of one player is to capture the king by flanking him on all 4 sides while the objective the other player is to get the king from the center of the board to a corner. This game should not be confused with Brandubh: Celtic Royal Chess or Fidchell - Celtic Chess both of which have been called celtic chess. - BoardGameGeek
