Galaxy's Edge
-
Description
You are a flagship commander of one of the great galactic superpowers, navigating the fringe of the known galaxy in an effort to claim and colonize the many bountiful star systems in the region. Expansion can be achieved through rapid peaceful occupation, but you must also use the military resources at your disposal to seize enemy outposts and to protect your own. Although this is new territory for you and your competitors, a variety of alien species are native to the newly-charted sectors... earning their loyalty will go a long way towards deciding who will be the master of the Galaxy's Edge!
Your overall objective in the game is to score the most points at the game's end. Points are mainly earned for building colonies in the many star systems of varying value. Bonus points can be won by earning the loyalty of various alien species while satisfying their specific requirements.
Throughout the game you will need to support your colonization efforts with military strategy, which in turn will allow you to conquer valuable opposing colonies and thus score more points. Obtaining—and keeping—alien loyalties will be an important factor in determining a winner, and the diverse Event cards can be used to further your goals in a number of ways.
A short FAQ
What do bans represent?
Every time you build a colony or a military base on a populated planet, there is natural resistance among the native species.
It takes time to quell the protesters and to make sure the locals got used to the idea of aliens living on their land. (Imagine that in your back yard!) While the tensions are high, there can be no more construction in the same sector; one has to wait until they calm down.Rules that tend to be overlooked more often
1.You place a ban where you just built an installation (not where you moved your flagship)
2.While colonies can be built in vicinity of existing installations, military bases can be built only where your flagship currently is.
3.Having more bases than other players does not give you military control. As my friend put it, “If you have nuclear weapons, you have nuclear weapons. It does not really matter how many warheads.”
You gain control by being the ONLY player with Class 1 (or 2, or 3) base in the vicinity. In other words, the base of the lowest unmatched class wins.
4.To get a pledge, you need to have colonies in more sectors of that particular race, not just more colonies on their territory.
5.Once a base has been built, you cannot change its class.
6.Once a sector has been completed, there can be no more conquest in it. Building more bases in its vicinity won’t change anything later on.Microbadges
