Octagons is an abstract boardgame from the family of connection games. The rules as given in New Rules for Classic Games are: The game uses an Archimedean grid with halved octagons (resulting in irregular hexagons). Both players take turns making moves. On his turn, a player can either fill in one half of an octagon (i.e. a heptagon) or two squares.

The first move can be swapped by the pie rule. The player who forms an unbroken connection between the edges of his colour wins. Draws are not possible.
