From the press release:
Aaarr! Hoist your sails and set your course for high seas adventure in Piratack. This thrilling new board game beckons you into a world where all can join in swashbuckling fun. Players must throw caution to the winds as their ships voyage through tranquil and stormy seas or pass through whirlpools. Ships must trade cargo to increase their strength in cannons because when time runs out…
You can’t escape…
PIRATACK!
In the end, the fiercest will battle for the ultimate sovereign rule as Piratitan!Home Page: http://www.piratack.com
It started off as a good game, but as the game progressed it became more and more frustrating that the rules were not up to a suitable standard and contradicted one another.
1. Can ships pass each other.
2. Can ships be on the same square.
3. If ships are on the same square can they still trade one with another.
4. If you have two of your own ships next to each other can they trade back and forth each turn if they like.
5. Do you have to get the exact number to enter your port, if you are say 3 spaces away and you get a card saying move 5 spaces can you stop in your port or do you have to get the exact number to enter.
6. In the game it states Pirate ships can only have a maximum of 20 cannons and Piratitan can have a maximum of 25 cannons, if this is the case and you defeate another pirate ship you obtain their cannons, this will now mean you could have an extra 20 cannons or 25 cannons in your ship, is this possible or do they get put in storage not to be used.
7. Now if you defeate another ship that has cargo and you then go over the Pentagon space before another player and you obtain the cargo from the centre of the board what can you do with it as it states in the game you can no longer trade, so this is pointless along with any extra cannons you also picked up as your are limited to the amount of cannons one ship can have.
8. In the game it says you can take the cargo to another port of the ships same colour, does this mean you can travel back and forth from your home port and then to the foreign port.
9. And does one have to go back to their home port befor returning to the foreign port to get more cargo or can they circle around and go back to the same port to get the double up on cargo.
10. If ships are in battle with each other, they should be allowed to use more than just the one dice. Their should be 5 dice in total, attack can use 3 dice maximum if they have 3 or more cannons and the defender can use two dice if they have 2 or more cannons. Now, if the attacker and defender role the same highest number lets say they both role a 4 then the defender would win and the attacker would loose 1 cannon, and lets say the attackers next dice was a 3 and the defenders was a 2, then the defender would loss a cannon as well.if the attackers next dice was a 1 and the defender had no other dice in the attack then that dice does not count.
11. Can you also do battle with another person prior to moving and having your turn.
12. Can you have multiple battles in your turn as you could have pirates on either side of multiple ships or are you only allowed to battle one ship only?In closing, alot of work needs to be done on the rules of the game as it will lead to BIG arguments as the rules are very POOR, if you like games, you will need to adjust the rules and make your own rules up prior to the game where they are lacking to improve it.
I give this game a 3 out of 10 due to the very poor rules. I would suggest the following board games over this, Cludo, Risk, Monopoly, scabble.
