The Military History game - Rome. The Great Battles - enables players to play the battles of the Late Roman Republic period (III-I B.C.). At that time Rome was waging the numerous wars of conquest outside Italy. The first large military campaign became a struggle for the possession of Sicily Island, which would give Rome a strategic advantage. As a result of the wars of this period, apart from Italy a number of countries, including Spain, Gaul, Britain, Greece and North Africa (Libya, Egypt) became a part of the Roman republic. During Rome’s rise the Mediterranean Sea literally became a “Roman lake”.
