Second World War at Sea: Z Plan
-
Description
(from the Avalanche Press website:)
During the 1930s, the Nazi leadership hatched a plan to build a modern surface navy capable of exerting actual sea control. The "Z Plan" called for 10 battleships, four aircraft carriers and supporting cruisers and destroyers — a fleet that was already obsolete when put on the drawing board, but one that has fascinated wargamers for decades.
Second World War at Sea: Z Plan is a complete boxed game in our most popular game series. It is filled with ships and aircraft that ere planned but never built, or only constructed in prototype. The Germans receive their H-class battleships, P-class battle cruisers, M-class light cruisers and more: captured French warships in German service, up-gunned versions of the battle cruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, and the planned conversions of great liners like Europa into aircraft carriers. Britain's Royal Navy has its own super warships: Lion-class battleships, Tiger, Centurion- and Edgar-class cruisers, Eagle- and Malta-class aircraft carriers, and much more as well. In the air, powerful aircraft like the German Me262 and He162 jet fighters face off against Britain's Gloster Meteor and Hawker Sea Fury.
There are two dozen scenarios, or separate game situations, based on Germany's actual plans to confront the British by seizing the Atlantic islands: Madeira, the Azores and the Canaries. There are two maps, covering the Atlantic Ocean from the coasts of Spain and Morocco to the west, including all three island groups. These adjoin the maps from our Bismarck game, for those wishing to create even larger scenarios.
Z Plan is not yet available for sale or even for pre-order. We'll start taking pre-orders for it when publication is imminent.
