A track is laid out, consisting of doors in three different colors, with a castle and a treasure card at the ends, and a large hall in the middle. The doors can be assigned randomly.
In each round, one player is Merlin, the other players are ghosts. Each ghost player secretly picks a door card from the three in his/her hand and places it before him/her. Then Merlin announces a forbidden color. Each player who picked that color has to go back to last door of that color. The other players proceed to the next door of the color they picked. Then each player draws another door card. The round ends when either two players have reached the treasure (receiving 2 and 1 gold, respectively) or the draw pile is used up (then Merlin gets the gold).
There are as many rounds as players, so everyone gets to play Merlin once. The player with most gold is the winner.
