Twelve Mens Morris

Twelve Men's Morris

  • Description
Twelve Men's Morris was most popular during the Middle Ages when it was played in courts across Europe. The players use twelve pieces each, with each player having their own color. The object of the game is to reduce the number of opponents pieces on the board to two.An opponent's piece is removed from the board when a player forms a mill by completing a row of three of his pieces, on a line marked on the board. Two possible boards exist. One has three concentric squares marked with the mid-points of the adjacent sides of the the squares linked and also the adjacent corners limked. This is known as 'small board Twelve Men's Morris'.The other board has four concentric squares marked, and similar to [GameID=3886], has only the mid-points of the adjacent sides of the the squares linked. This is known as 'large board Twelve Men's Morris'.The links between the squares allow movement of pieces between squares and also the formation of mills on the links. - BoardGameGeek
