Winter of Honour

  • Description

    Winter of Honour™
    The Winter War in 1939-1940.

    The Game
Winter of Honour™, is a boardgame covering the Russo-Finnish conflict in 1939-1940. This is a classic war game where the players take on the role of commander in chief of the theater. The playing pieces represent the actual units that took part in the campaign.

The Russo-Finnish war - known in Finland as Talvisota or The winter war - lasted for 105 days from 30th November 1939 to 13th March 1940. Winter of Honour™ recreates this epic time in European history where the world stood on the side and observed a classic David vs. Goliath battle evolve and gives the players the option to alter history.

    The scene:
In what was supposed to be a Leningrad Military District parade in late 1939 “freeing the Finnish working class from the plutocratic Finland” soon turned out to be a major Soviet High Command headache and a world news affair. In just 6 weeks it became a full Soviet Front matter and by March 1 1940 more than a third of the total Soviet military might was engulfed in forcing a stubborn Finland on its knees…

    The Game Design
Winter of Honour™ is taught in 30 minutes and easy to digest yet a challenge even for the more experienced players. It is a classical war game at its best!

During the years several games on the subject has come out on the market, many leaving a lot to whish more out of. Some games were good. Others not. Inaccurate Order of Battles (OoB) and low understanding for the special environment in which the battle was fought are probably the main reason for mediocre games published. It is understandable that OoB’s had their flaws due to a one-sided research possibility up to early 1990s. 3CG is proud to present Winter of Honour™, a product of more than 5 years of first-hand resource research and a lifetime of interest on the subject.

    We hope you Enjoy!
